Georgia Chapter Shines at the 63rd Annual AFCC Conference in Seattle!

A small but mighty contingent of Georgia Chapter members traveled to Seattle, Washington for the 63rd Annual AFCC Conference, “What Lies Beneath: Hidden Forces Shaping Families in Transition,” held May 27–30, 2026. We’re proud to share that several of our own took the stage as presenters, and we want to recognize everyone from Georgia who made the trip.

Georgia Presenters : Two Georgia-led workshops were featured on this year’s program:

Balancing Rights and Children’s Interests in Family Cases with Criminal Charges  – This workshop looked at how criminal charges and investigation intersect with family court proceedings, and how professionals can balance child safety with due process. Presented by Daniel Bloom, Dr. Kristin J. Carothers, and Dawn R. Smith

Digital Tug-of-War: Protecting Kids from Tech-Driven Family Conflict  – This panel examined how smart devices, social media, and AI are shaping childhood and family conflict, and explored treating technology as its own custody domain. Presented by Dr. Le’Roy Reese, Dawn R. Smith, and Lauren R. Smith.

Congratulations to all of our presenters for representing Georgia so well on a national stage!

GEORGIA ATTENDEES
In addition to our presenters, the following Georgia Chapter members also attended the conference:

  • Dr. Danielle Levy
  • Alice Limehouse
  • Kyla Lines
  • Megan Miller
  • Nanette O’Neill

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped grow Georgia’s presence within AFCC. We look forward to bringing the ideas, connections, and energy from Seattle back to our work here at home — and to seeing even more Georgia representation at next year’s conference.

Stay tuned for more chapter updates, including our upcoming Chapter Organizational Launch events in Atlanta (October 16) and Savannah (October 23).
